Halloween Meringues

Oh Hi there! This is my first official post on Fiesta Resistance and i'm so excited to be able to share some stuff with you all. You should probably know that I am NOT domesticated... ie. I can't cook or bake. I am frequently one of those people that see's these amazing things on blogs and wishes she could make them too. What I can do is make things look pretty (or at least pretty to me and hopefully you like it too) and then photograph the sugar outta it. This is a very special occasion where I am sharing with you all one of the few things I am able to create (properly) in the kitchen; Meringues. This is actually a relatively easy (obviously... I was able to do it) job that just requires a little patience.

Here we go!

Halloween Meringues

What you will need

  • Blender
  • 1/4 teaspoon of Cream of Tartar
  • 3 eggs
  • 3/4 cup of Super Fine sugar
  • a drop or 2 of Vanilla extract or coconut Extract
  • Pretty paper straws and bags from I’m with Cupcake
  • Baking sheet
  • Parchment paper
  • Cake decorating icing (for drawing faces)
  • Oven

Step 1: Turn the oven on to 200˚F and measure out your items.

Step 2: Separate your egg whites into the mixing bowl and discard the yellow part.

Step 3: Mix eggs on medium until they are foamy and add the Cream of Tartar

Step 4: Continue to let the eggs mix for a few more minutes with the Cream of Tartar then slowly add the sugar... I mean SLOWLY. If you do it to fast it won't dissolve properly and you will flatten your meringues. Also add your flavour.

Step 5: Normally with Meringue you want it to be hard enough to hold a stiff peak but in this case we are going to stop mixing right before that stage.

Step 6: Place meringue mix into a piping bag and go to town on the baking sheet. I created bones, ghost pops and standing mini and biggy ghosts.

Step 6: Bake... for an hour an 30 minutes! You'll know they are ready when they turn slightly golden.

When you are all said and done you can make a variety of cute party desserts. I have created a few examples for you below.

  2. Adorable! I'll have to give this a try in other holiday shapes. Did you use candy melts for the eyes?
